Scholastic Renaissance LLC Becomes First Family Child Care Program in Connecticut
to Receive NAEYC Recognition
Norma Stennett, founder and director of Scholastic Renaissance LLC, has received notification from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) that her family child care program has achieved Recognition status, marking a milestone for early childhood education in Connecticut.

Scholastic Renaissance LLC is the first family child care program in Connecticut to receive NAEYC Recognition, an early step toward the organization’s nationally recognized accreditation standards for high-quality early learning programs.
Recognition status indicates that a program has demonstrated meaningful progress toward meeting NAEYC’s accreditation standards, which include benchmarks related to learning environments, curriculum, educator practices and family engagement. The milestone places Scholastic Renaissance LLC on a path towards full accreditation as an Early Start CT funded program.
“We are incredibly proud of Norma and all that she has accomplished,” said Georgia Goldburn, co-founder of the CERCLE. “Norma has worked diligently toward this milestone, and it has been a pleasure to stand beside her throughout that journey. Her commitment to quality early childhood education and the families she serves is evident in the work she does every day. Becoming the first family child care provider in Connecticut to receive NAEYC Recognition is an incredible accomplishment and an important step toward full accreditation.”
Stennett said the recognition reflects the collective effort of educators and partners working to strengthen family child care programs.
“The Recognition process opened our eyes to areas for refinement, both in our program and approach, as we continuously improved while navigating the application process,” Stennett said.“This process taught us the language required to detail and define our policies. The process required the team's collective dedication, demonstrated through thorough collaborative planning, extended hours of preparation, support from AQIS, and the initiative to seek additional expertise from Georgia Goldburn at CERCLE. Our approach emphasized physical and environmental design, ensuring that every element of our learning spaces aligned with NAEYC's high standards for quality.”

A new word spoken with pride.
A skill practiced until it finally clicks. A burst of confidence that lights up a child’s whole face. These moments are the heartbeat of this work. They remind me that what I do matters, and they pull me back each day with a sense of purpose that never gets old.

Takiyah Campbell, a parent whose daughter attended Scholastic Renaissance LLC, said Ms. Norma’s attention and expertise made a life-changing difference for her family.
“During my daughter’s first month, Ms. Norma noticed something while she was eating that others might have missed,” Campbell said. “She recognized a delayed reflex that could have been dangerous if it had gone unnoticed. I think about that moment all the time. Her knowledge and care changed everything for us.”
Scholastic Renaissance LLC provides early childhood education services for children and families in the Bridgeport area and continues to work toward full accreditation through the National Association for the Education of Young Children as part of the Early Start CT pathway.
