Hope For New Haven and CERCLE have partnered with the City of New Haven to make grant funds available to the early care and education (ECE) industry.  

Through a City initiative called the Early Childhood Recovery and Innovation Project, $1.6 million of ARPA funding have been made available over the next three years to strengthen the ECE workforce in New Haven.

Projects Supported In 2026 

Grant funding supported initiatives that address different aspects of workforce development, from educator credentialing and accreditation to business development, quality improvement and workforce retention. 

CDA Credentialing.  Provide a comprehensive Child Development Associate credentialing pathway that combines coursework, cohort-based learning, individualized coaching and application support to help early childhood educators earn their CDA credential.

 

Accreditation.  Provide accreditation-focused professional development through Pyramid Model, Circle of Security and Journey to Nia® training that strengthens educator practice and promotes culturally responsive early learning environments. 

 

Environmental Rating Scales (ERS).  Advance program quality through Environmental Rating Scale (FCCERS, ECERS, and ITERS) training, classroom observations and quality improvement resources that help educators create stronger early learning environments.

Medication Administration & CPR Certification.  Expand access to Medication Administration and Pediatric CPR/AED/First Aid certification through virtual and in-person training for early childhood educators.

 

Child Care Business Development.  Equip early childhood providers with business planning, financial management, marketing and individualized coaching to build sustainable child care businesses and strengthen organizational capacity. 

 

Workforce Retention & Advancement.  Strengthen the early childhood workforce by investing in employee retention, credential attainment, leadership development, mentoring and ongoing professional development.

 

Peer Learning & Coaching.  Promote instructional excellence through educator coaching, peer learning, conference participation and experiential professional development that strengthens classroom practice.
